Im 21 male, i come from a very religious and conservative background. I know im young but i have never had a girlfriend and this really has destroyed my confidence. I've had opportunities in Middle school and High School but never committed out of fear, fear that the relationship would not work. Im a good looking guy and have allot going for my self but this problem is holding me back from improving my social life. Also at the age of 6 or 7 i caught my father cheating on my mom this i know really effected me and i never received help for it. In elementary school i look back and see my self as a sissy, i played sports and had guy friends but played allot with girls, i guess i was one of the sensitive kids. I never though nothing of it but once I entered Middle school at age 11 one guy pointed out that I acted like a sissy. This really made me look at my self and try to figure out what was wrong with me. After that point i changed my ways and became a tougher kid so i wouldn't be picked on, because of that kid i began questioning my sexuality and have always been confused. I had never though of guys in a sexual way as far as i knew i liked girls. But Middle school and this kid really impacted my life. Today i do find girls attractive but also guys. I don't want to chose a preference because i really don't feel i have found any individual who i truly love. I've gone out with girls but never with a girl that really interested me. I guess my question is what should i do? who should i see? what advice do you give me to try and find my true self?

yes it does seem that some silly comments a long time ago have messed you up and to put it bluntly GET OVER IT. That guy in middle school was probably jealous of you in some way and that is the main reason people make fun of others. You are deciding your life based on a couple of comments that have been said about you.

As far as your dad goes, that is something that you will have to deal with, he was not cheating on you and there are always three sides to the story. You do not know the story and maybe it is time for you to talk to your dad.

You may have not found anyone yet that really touches your heart and that is okay as well as it is okay to question who you are. You are at an age that you should question everything and you do not have to decide anything at this time.

Keep on searching and you will figure it out.
