I am the previous sender of Daddy-Daughter problem. this message is intended for Jennifer Baxt.
How can i make a good impression with the court regarding my drinking in front of the kids? I have stopped drinking and I am hoping to stay quit through the help of a local open session and discussion group for people with alcohol addiction and dependency.
What should I do to help my case further? i understand that you are not a legal counsoler, but if you were to provide input to a regular client, what would your advice be in this regard?
Thanx. |

No drugs involved. No tests ordered. Have been to the court ordered parenting classes.
Alcohol only. Drunkeness not a problem. Driving impaired is not a problem. Only a few beers at a time a couple days a week. However, I like my beer and the only days that I have available to enjoy one with my crazy schedule are the days when I visit with my kids.
This is what got me in trouble so now I'm trying to get help with making better decisions about my drinking addiction. |

| simple, don't drink around the kids. the courts will recongize this. What you do on your own time is your own business. For the sake of your relationship with your kids, abide by the court ruling. |

I am not a drinker, and dont have that problem with the courts, but am also dealing with Social Serivices. Have been dealing with them for over a year now, and know all about trying to impress them.
Call your local mental health center (thats what it is here) and they should be able to give you the names or someone you can talk too about parenting activities, classes, most of the time someone in your comminity will sponser something along the lines of a parenting class. They can also write a letter saying you attending.
I have taken at least 5 parenting classes, on top of the ones that were court ordered.
Take Xtra parenting classes
Onlineparentclass.com
An online parenting class that is acceptable in courts in almost all 50 states. Even if it's not acceptable, it shows your trying. It cost about $90 but you take it, you take a quiz and get a certificate. Every little bit helps..I promise!
Go to a counsler, get therepy for help with your drinking, and attend your apts. regularly!
As long as you show that your not drinking, and your keeping up with it they will see it. If you show your also trying to do other things to assist you with your parenting skills (even if your a good parent) they will see it as your trying to better yourself.
They could care less about you, they care about if the child is living in a safe enviroment. So make them see that you can provide this for him/her better than you ever could have before. _________________ ... |
