Hello:
There is a fine line between supporting and carrying someone. Just make sure you are being supportive. Has he ever gone through something like this before. Does anyone in his family suffer from depression or does he have a close friend who suffers from depression. Might be an idea to have that person talk to him someone other than yourself if you are not getting through to him.

time to get reinforcements as i said before if he is not listening to you and realizing there is a problem, he needs to listen to someone. make his friends/sister understand there is a real problem, hopefully someone can get through to him.

i think you need the person that has been through what he has gone through to talk to him to make him feel as if he is not alone and what he is going through is not as bad as he thinks (don't tell him that). when you are depressed, you feel as if you are all alone and there is nobody out there that can relate to you.

sounds as if the indirect thing is not working for you and just leaving you frustrated and him still feeling depressed. if talking to him doesn't work, then you are unfortuntely going to have to wait until he recongizes that he has fallen and asks for help.

as frustrating as that might be only if you want help will help work for you.
