Seroquel makes me too groggy. I have been on depakote but not really long enough to know how it affected me. Does anyone have any personal experience with either one of these? I'm thinking of asking to try depakote again.

The two medications are for different things. Depokoke is for managing bi-polor and to date is the best medicine out there if you can handle being on it. Serequel is prescribed mainly as a sleep aid but has other benefits as well.

Why did you switch? And how are you doing on the serequel?

From what I understand Seroquel is the only med at this time approved for acute mania. That was why I started. I take (suppose to take) 200mg in the AM (but it makes me too groggy) and 300mg/PM. Lamictal 100mgAM/PM. I forget to take it in the AM because I am not taking the seroquel.
I had a big issue with medication compliance when I was on the Depakote. Lots of denial and didn't make it to my appointments on a regular basis and such... It has been several years... Don't think I had a bad experience on it, just wasn't taking it for too long.
I was wondering how it might make me feel while I am just starting on it? Til my body gets use to it. Groggy? Disconnected?
I have found that the Dr's don't always know the answers to these kinds of questions.

no. the doctors donot always know what is best for your body, but you do and you need to be an advocate for yourself and your body. you need to tell your doctor that you re groggy and unable to function. that works better than noncompliance. become your best advocate
