i was just recently diagnosed with borderline/bipolar and i'm having a hard time excepting this. i don't want to be borderline. i have been in treatment since feb. 2010 in this time period i was hosptilized in a psyhatric unit on sucidal ideation and self harm, in a crisis stabliztion unit two times each about a week for the same thing, i've seen 3 diffrent counselors, seeing a psychatrist, meds changed atlest 5 times.. in this whole time period at first i was only diagnosed with deppression, ptsd, anxiety. After i was hosptilized it was bipolar, then after i got out of the crisis stablization unit they diagnosed me with BPD. this is bad for me. i have two daughters, if i don't stay in treatment could i possibly lose them? this scares me! and is there even any counselors who like bpd patients, because i herd alot of practioners tell me that they did not want to treat this disorder, or that i was to difficult! could they have possibly mis diagnosed me?

Going to be honest with you that once you are diagonized with any personality disorder counseling is not really workable according to the powers that be. Me I believe that people have the power to change if and when they are motivated to. Yes, you need to stay in therapy, yes there are a lot of counselors that will not treat someone with bpd and yes of course you could have been missdiagnosed.

could i lose my kids if i don't follow what they recommend? the reason i ask is my boyfriend and i split up a couple times and he threatened to take me to court for custody and my psych told me just to be stable on my medcine.. were back together now but what if it happens again? could i lose them if i didn't follow the treatment plan or could i lose them even if i'm following it?

of course you could, sorry thought i mentioned that as well. if you are unstable in and out of psych hospitals or in an active episoide of bipolor you can get reported and your children will be taken out of your custody and then you will have to do a lot more than just go to therapy to get them back staying in therapy and staying on your medications is the best thing for you and your children
