							I was recently told a story about how a mother was telling her daughter before their big
							trip on an airplane that she was two years old instead of three. The mom told me that
							she kept on reminding her daughter to say she was two and not three so she could sit on
							her lap during the flight and not have to buy a plane ticket for her daughter. Well, at
							the airport the child states at the ticket counter, .My mommy told me to say that I was
							two but I am really three years old.. Of course the mother was embarrassed and we just
							learned the lesson of how children learn to lie. Lying is not a trait that we are born with;
							it is something that is learned from the people in our lives. I have listed a few of the
							types of lies out there. Of course there are more but I think you will get the general idea
	from this list.						
 
							&#60;/p&#62;

							If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything.

								What is a lie?
							&#60;/h3&#62; 
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: justify&#34;&#62; 
							Lying is a form of deception, but not all forms of deception are lies. Lying is giving some
							information while believing it to be untrue, intending to deceive by doing so.
							A lie has these essential features:
							&#60;ul&#62; 
							&#60;li&#62;A lie communicates some information&#60;/li&#62; 
							&#60;li&#62;The liar intends to deceive or mislead&#60;/li&#62; 
							&#60;li&#62;The liar believes that what they are 'saying' is not true&#60;/li&#62; 
							&#60;li&#62;A lie does not have to give false information&#60;/li&#62; 
							&#60;li&#62;A lies does not have to be told with a bad intention - white lies are an example of
							lies told with a good intention&#60;/li&#62; 
							&#60;/ul&#62; 
							&#60;/p&#62;  
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: justify&#34;&#62; 
							This definition says that what makes a lie is that the liar intends to deceive or at least to
							mislead the person they are lying to. It says nothing about whether the information given
							is true or false.
							&#60;/p&#62; 
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: left;&#34;&#62; 
							This definition covers ordinary cases of lying and these two odd cases as well:
							The case where someone inadvertently gives true information while believing that they're
							telling a lie
								&#60;ul style=&#34;text-align: left;&#34;&#62; 
									&#60;li&#62;I want the last helping of pie for myself, so I lie to you that there is a worm in it.&#60;/li&#62; 
									&#60;li&#62;The case where nobody is deceived by me because they know that I always tell
									lies&#60;/li&#62; 
								&#60;/ul&#62; 
							&#60;/p&#62; 
 
							&#60;h3 style=&#34;text-align: center&#34;&#62; 
								Lying under serious threat
							&#60;/h3&#62; 
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: left&#34;&#62; 
							The reason for lying that gets most sympathy from people because something terrible will
							happen if you don't lie. Examples include
								&#60;ul style=&#34;text-align: left;&#34;&#62; 
									&#60;li&#62;lying to protect a murderer's intended victim&#60;/li&#62; 
									&#60;li&#62;lying to save oneself from death or serious injury&#60;/li&#62; 
								&#60;/ul&#62; 
							&#60;/p&#62; 
 
							&#60;h3 style=&#34;text-align: center&#34;&#62; 
								Mental reservations
							&#60;/h3&#62; 
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: left&#34;&#62; 
							This legalistic device divides a statement into two parts: the first part is misleading, the
							two parts together are true - however only the first part is said aloud, and the second part
							is a 'mental reservation'.
							Here are some examples:
								&#60;ul style=&#34;text-align: left;&#34;&#62; 
									&#60;li&#62;&#34;I have never cheated on my wife&#34; (except last Thursday)&#60;/li&#62; 
									&#60;li&#62;&#34;I did not steal the cakes&#34; (on Thursday afternoon)&#60;/li&#62; 
									&#60;li&#62;&#34;I did not touch the painting&#34; (but my glove did)&#60;/li&#62; 
								&#60;/ul&#62; 
							&#60;/p&#62; 
 
 
 
							&#60;h3 style=&#34;text-align: center&#34;&#62; 
								White lies
							&#60;/h3&#62; 
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: left&#34;&#62; 
							A white lie is a lie that is not intended to harm the person being lied to - indeed it's often
							intended to benefit them by making them feel good, or preventing their feelings being
							hurt.
							&#60;/p&#62; 
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: left&#34;&#62; 
							For example:
								&#60;ul style=&#34;text-align: left;&#34;&#62; 
									&#60;li&#62;I go to a dinner party and my hostess asks how I like the dish she's prepared.
							The true answer happens to be 'I think it tastes horrible' but if I say 'it's delicious'
							that's a white lie. Most people would approve of that white lie and would regard
							telling the truth as a bad thing to do. (But this lie does do some harm - the hostess
							may feel encouraged to make that dish again, and so future guests will have to
							suffer from it.)&#60;/li&#62; 
								&#60;/ul&#62; 
							&#60;/p&#62; 
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: left&#34;&#62; 
							White lies usually include most of these features:
								&#60;ul style=&#34;text-align: left;&#34;&#62; 
									&#60;li&#62;they are not intended to harm the person lied to&#60;/li&#62; 
									&#60;li&#62;they are not intended to harm anyone else&#60;/li&#62; 
									&#60;li&#62;they don't actually harm anyone (or only do trivial harm)&#60;/li&#62; 
									&#60;li&#62;the lie is about something morally trivial&#60;/li&#62; 
									&#60;li&#62;they aren't told so often that they devalue what you say&#60;/li&#62; 
									&#60;li&#62;the person being lied to is deprived of information that they might find useful
									even if they found it unpleasant&#60;/li&#62; 
									&#60;li&#62;the person telling the lies may find it easier to lie in future and they may come to
									blur the boundary between white lies and more blameworthy lies&#60;/li&#62; 
								&#60;/ul&#62; 
							&#60;/p&#62; 
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: left&#34;&#62; 
							White lies weaken the general presumption that lying is wrong and may make it easier
							for a person to tell lies that are intended to harm someone, or may make it easier to avoid
							telling truths that need to be told - for example, when giving a performance evaluation it
							is more comfortable not to tell someone that their work is sub-standard.
							&#60;/p&#62;

								Compulsive Liar
							&#60;/h3&#62; 
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: left&#34;&#62; 
							A compulsive liar is defined as someone who lies out of habit. Lying is their normal
							and reflexive way of responding to questions. Compulsive liars bend the truth about
							everything, large and small. For a compulsive liar, telling the truth is very awkward and
							uncomfortable while lying feels right. Compulsive lying is usually thought to develop
							in early childhood, due to being placed in an environment where lying was necessary.
							For the most part, compulsive liars are not overly manipulative and cunning (unlike
							sociopaths), rather they simply lie out of habit - an automatic response which is hard to
							break and one that takes its toll on a relationship.
							&#60;/p&#62; 
 
 
 
							&#60;h3 style=&#34;text-align: center&#34;&#62; 
								A Sociopath
							&#60;/h3&#62; 
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: left&#34;&#62; 
							A sociopath is typically defined as someone who lies incessantly to get their
							way and does so with little concern for others. A sociopath is often goal-oriented
							(i.e., lying is focused - it is done to get one's way). Sociopaths have little regard
							or respect for the rights and feelings of others. Sociopaths are often charming
							and charismatic, but they use their talented social skills in manipulative and self-
							centered ways.
							&#60;/p&#62; 
 
 
 
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: left&#34;&#62; 
							If you fit into one of these categories then you lie. Society has given us a pass on
							lying but if you lie to protect yourself or others you are still lying. It is up to you
							how and why you lie and whether you want to change you're lying habits.

							The baby is 3 months old now and we are getting into a routine (sort of). I try to remember each day how thankful I am that we are all healthy and happy.  When I do this, it reminds me about how important effective coping skills are in my life and without them, I would not be able to be a healthy person, let alone a good wife and mother.  Let's find out what I mean about healthy coping skills.

							I get told all the time that people do not have the time to cope with their stress everyday.  My modest answer is: &#34;How you can not make the time?&#34;  Some of us only realize our stress levels are over the top by having a panic attack or having some physical ailment that shocks us into reality, such as a heart attack or an ulcer.  Realistically, people handle stress differently, but we all need to know our limits and how to reduce stress everyday.   
							&#60;/p&#62;
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: justify&#34;&#62;
							What can you do to cope with your stress when you have no time?  I am going to tell you that you need to make the time, but some of the best ways to do it are: 
							&#60;/p&#62;
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: left&#34;&#62;
								&#60;ul style=&#34;text-align: left&#34;&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Take a lunch break at work, whether it is for 15 or even 10 minutes. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Find a nighttime routine and stick to it because you need to transition from day to night.  Nighttime routines can consist of reading, listening to music or anything else that helps you relax. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Laugh about it, when you are so stress out and do not know how you are going to get through the day, laughing will help you readjust and give you perspective. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Talk about it.  Talking whether it is to your pet or your loved one, just do it and get it all out. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Once again I will say it, try to find time to exercise it is a great stress relief. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Eat healthy.  The more stressed we get the easier it is to slack on our good eating habits.  Eating healthy will help you cope with your stress and give you the energy you need.  The sugar snack will only lift you up for a short time then drop you down again. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Socialize with real people.  Yes the internet is fine to enjoy but get out there and enjoy your peers. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Make time for yourself; get a massage, or your nails done.  Taking time for yourself in your day is necessary to cope effectively. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Ask for help.  You need to know when it is time to ask for help and realize that you are not a superhuman and cannot handle everything yourself. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Find hobbies or a sport that you enjoy. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Plan a vacation from your day to day routine.  If you cannot afford to go anywhere, just plan a day when you do something besides what gets you so stressed. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Take your vacation time and use it.  If you cannot get away that is okay still take your days and savor home time. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Do something silly for yourself, whatever that means to you. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Most importantly, enjoy yourself and those around you, time is short and we need to make the most of it. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;/ul&#62;
							&#60;/p&#62;
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: left&#34;&#62;
							Be thankful for all that you have and all that you have accomplished and remember that we all handle stress differently so do not compare yourself to anyone else because you never really know what is going on with them and how they really handle everything.  Just because things appear one way does not mean they are.

							As a new parent, I find that balancing my time has gotten increasingly difficult so I thought I'd share some techniques that I've learned along the way on how to be an effective parent while still having time for yourself and your partner.  I know... easier said than done, but it is possible and here are some vital techniques for staying sane and still feeling good about yourself. 
							&#60;/p&#62;
 
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: justify&#34;&#62;
								&#60;ul&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Accept all help that is offered to you. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Remember that nobody can parent your child exactly like you so when you ask for help, you need to step back and let that person do their best. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Forget about making lists or setting goals every day. You can only do what you can do and you need to feel good about that. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;If you are a neat freak and do not have time to clean or straighten up, you need to remember that it will all get done. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Take time for yourself and do something alone to remember who you are, even if its just 10 minutes. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;If your significant other wants to help, let them and do not correct them when they do because that help might not be offered again. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;If you have trouble letting go, then leave the house when someone else is watching your children.  Go to the mall, go to a park, or just take a drive and be yourself. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Date night!  Even if you are so tired that date night is staying at home after the kids are asleep, it is so important to stay connected as a couple. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Remember, the more balanced you are the better parent you will be, and the more you be able to give to your children. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Keep on exercising, include the kids if you want! &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Try to eat as healthy as you can. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Most importantly, remember that tomorrow is another day and today you did the best you could. &#60;/li&#62;

							Welcome to our first newsletter of 2010, what does this year have in store for you?  Are you a planner or a procrastinator?  I am a planner through and through and have noticed that the more I plan, the less stress that I have.  One place that I notice this is when I am at the airport.  I always get my boarding pass before and usually get to the airport with enough time to get through security and still have time to get something to eat if I need to.  Then, I see the people that are running down the terminal with children in tow, yelling and screaming and even those people that miss their plane.  What is the difference between these two examples?  One is planning and the other is procrastination.  Which do you want to be in 2010?&#60;br&#62; &#60;br&#62;
							At this time of year, it is customary to reevaluate your goals and decide if you are on track or things need to be readjusted to meet your goals.  Can you be a goal oriented person even if you are a procrastinator?  I say yes and I encourage you to set your goals for this year in realistic terms so they can be accomplished.  My own definition of goals is setting your mind to do something and getting it accomplished.  Sounds simple enough right?  Let's talk about an example:
							&#60;/p&#62;

								Goals are dreams with deadlines.

								The first stage of setting a realistic goal is to set a realistic timeline.  Let's say for example that your goal of 2010 is to go back to school.  Great goal! Now, let's start the timeline for this goal.  Yes, it would be great if you could drop everything and go back to school but for most of us out there it is not possible so let's set the timeline: 
								&#60;ul&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Figure out what you would like to go back to school for. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Find out if you want to take courses online or in a classroom. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Look for schools that are in your area that offer classes. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Evaluate your life and see how you will fit in school with work, home life, etc. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;How will you pay for school?  If you will need financial aid then you need to look into guidelines for aid and how much money you will need. &#60;/li&#62;
									&#60;li&#62;Once you have the finances, you need to enroll in classes and you are set! &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;/ul&#62;

							&#60;/p&#62;
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: justify&#34;&#62;
								&#60;span style=&#34;font-size: 20px; font-weight: bold; color: #CC6600; font-family: arial;
									line-height: 110%;&#34;&#62;Overcoming Obstacles&#60;/span&#62;&#60;br&#62;
									&#60;br&#62;
									Now if that list was an obstacle for you in going back to school think of how many other little things could come up that will get into your way to accomplish your goals.  Obstacles are just road blocks on the path to getting what you want.  You can back track when one comes up, go around it or plow right through it.  Up to you to decide how you want to deal with an obstacle.  Some are harder to deal with than others.  Say a family member gets sick and you have to take care of them or your children's education comes first or work becomes very hectic and you cannot even think about adding an additional stressor in your life.  All of these things that I have described are just obstacles and each time you encounter one, you will need to decide how to handle one on a case by case basis.

							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: justify&#34;&#62;

									line-height: 110%;&#34;&#62;Long Term verse Short Term Goals&#60;/span&#62;&#60;br&#62;

									Going back to school would be considered a long term goal and each step that I mentioned would be a short term goal within that step.  In order for something to be a goal it just needs to be obtainable.  Make your short term goals easy and obtainable and most importantly you will need to recognize that you are accomplishing a goal each and every day, even more than one.  If going back to school is not a realistic goal for now, then do as many steps on your list that you can and feel good about accomplishing your short term goals for now.

							When I was getting my master's degree I had the pleasure of working in an emergency room as a patient advocate.  I was the person that made sure the E.R. ran smoothly, comforted family members when a loved one passed and much more.  I learned so much from that experience, but the one thing that stuck with me the most was how different people tried to get their way which leads me to classify people as passive, aggressive, passive/aggressive, or assertive.  These character traits are the focus of our topic this month.

Are you the kind of person that if you see something that is wrong you stay quiet about it and let someone else figure it out?  Passive people tend to be quiet, with little to no outward opinion about topics.  Are you okay with who you are?  Passive people tend to be healthier because they do not sweat the small stuff and do not let things get to them.  Does this describe you?

									On the other end of the spectrum is the aggressive person.  This person gets upset about any and all little things and can get into either a verbal or physical fight at any minute.  This person will usually have either high blood pressure or a heart condition brought on by the stress of their anger.  This is the person that you see yelling and ranting in the Emergency Room waiting room because they feel as if they are being neglected.  Are you an aggressive person?
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: justify&#34;&#62;
								&#60;span style=&#34;font-size: 20px; font-weight: bold; color: #CC6600; font-family: arial;
									line-height: 110%;&#34;&#62;Passive/Aggressive&#60;/span&#62;&#60;br&#62;
									&#60;br&#62;
									This personality type is the most common and can be the most dangerous of the four.  When someone is passive/aggressive they will get upset about something but not say or do anything about it until a later date.  Usually the aggression will come out in the form of an argument that has nothing to do with the incident that this person was upset about in the first place.  Let's take the E.R. example again.  You have been waiting for hours in the E.R. and you are sick and upset about waiting but do not want to cause trouble so you do not say or do anything until your name is called.  Well, after 3 hours of waiting you finally get called, get seen and 8 hours later are on your way home.  By this time, the aggression has come out and you call your spouse who wasn't there with you in the E.R. and they ask with concern how you are and you go off on them and let them have it.  Passive/aggressive people do not always know that their aggression toward people is caused by previo
us passive behavior.  This is a classic example and this type of behavior can cause serious damage to you and your loved ones by not being able to express your true emotions and not understanding how to handle certain situations.
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: justify&#34;&#62;
								&#60;span style=&#34;font-size: 20px; font-weight: bold; color: #CC6600; font-family: arial;
									line-height: 110%;&#34;&#62;Assertive&#60;/span&#62;&#60;br&#62;
									&#60;br&#62;
							Assertiveness is the behavior that we should all strive to be.  My definition of assertive behavior is when you can clearly articulate your wants or needs without upsetting anyone else.  Let's go back to the E.R.  When working in the Emergency Room, I noticed that for the most part, people just wanted to know that they were not forgotten and that they were being taken care of.  So, how would an assertive person handle a 3 hour wait in the E.R. waiting room?  They would ask periodically what is going on and how much longer they had to wait.  If they felt as if they were going to get angry, they would either talk it out, work on staying calm or take a walk.  Remember being assertive is not getting your way by acting out, that is considered aggressive behavior.  Assertive behavior is first knowing what you want and second, knowing how to communicate your needs effectively.  If you are angry, it is much harder to communicate effectively, so if you are just starting out wit
h assertive behavior, you need to remember these points.

							&#60;ul style=&#34;text-align: justify;margin-left:20px;&#34;&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Always realize that you should think about what you say before you say it. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Someone has to make the first move and in the end, it does not matter who does it. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;You always have to remember your goal and keep that in mind. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;There is no room for an ego or stubbornness when it comes to being assertive. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Become aware of who you are and how you act/react to things. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Remember that the only thing we can control is how we act or how we react to people or situations. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Do not get upset at yourself for making a mistake, this is a learning process and the more mistakes you make the more you learn. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Always try again, you never have to be stuck in one behavior pattern, keep striving to be your best.&#60;/li&#62;
							&#60;/ul&#62;
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: justify&#34;&#62;
							That being said, assertiveness is a work in progress and should be taken in stride.  You can do it if you put your mind to it.

							As the weather gets cooler and the year of 2009 comes to an end, I will become a mom for the first time.  That is right, my husband and I are expecting our first child in early December and we are of course overjoyed!  I have been helping families for years on how to parent and as motherhood is fast approaching I am wondering if all those years of talking to my clients will pay off.  I believe that there are three techniques to successful parenting which is consistency, consequences and caring, the three C's.

								Children keep us in check.

								In negotiation, consistency, or the consistency principle, refers to a negotiator's strong psychological need to be consistent with prior acts and statements.
								&#60;a href=&#34;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consistency&#34;&#62;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consistency&#60;/a&#62; 
								When you say something mean it and when you mean it say it.  The most effective way to do this is to wait until you and your child are calm in order to talk.  Time outs have lost there purpose along with way, but they are supposed to be a time to reflect, understand and relax in order to not repeat the same mistakes again.  Who is the time out for the parent or the child?  I would say both in order for the child to understand and for you as the parent to have time to reflect.  If you are consistent in your parenting your children will appreciate you even more.  Children need rules, boundaries and discipline in order to learn and they crave it.  If you do not give it to them, they will not know how to succeed.  How do you stay consistent? 

							&#60;/p&#62;
							&#60;ul style=&#34;text-align: justify;margin-left:20px;&#34;&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Have a daily routine and stick to it.  If you are a morning person, then wake up before the kids and do what you need to do, if you are a night person, after the kids are asleep, have your time and get your next day organized.  Remember the more organized you are, the better off your children will be. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Once the kids are up, stick to a routine, whether its brush teeth, eat breakfast, get dressed, whatever it is, keep it the same each morning. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Nighttime can be either fun or stressful, you can make it fun by establishing a night time routine early on and sticking to it in and your children will know that when you say bath time, the night is winding down. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Take a 5 minute break if you need.  Yes, you are allowed and it will help you get back on track with your day. &#60;/li&#62;
							&#60;/ul&#62;
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: justify&#34;&#62;
								&#60;span style=&#34;font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; color: #CC6600; font-family: arial;
									line-height: 110%;&#34;&#62;Consequences&#60;/span&#62;&#60;br&#62;
								Once you have your routine down, you need to establish and stick to the consequences that you make.  This is the time when you need to breathe and think about what will make the most sense.  When your child does something wrong, it is best to take some time for both of you and reflect on how to help them learn the right way to do something.  Remember, we learn from mistakes so help them learn how to do the right thing by setting a good example as well as good consequences. 
							&#60;/p&#62;
							&#60;ul style=&#34;text-align: justify;margin-left:20px;&#34;&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Never make the consequence harder for yourself than for your child &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Never rebuke another person.s consequence if it is already established.  You can do this in private and both learn from this event on different parenting styles &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Always, keep the whole consequence.  If you say no electronics for 30 days, then stick to your promise.  If that is too hard for you, do not make it for so long.  &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Make the consequence match the crime.  Remember, these are learning experiences, not punishment.  Your goal is to get them to learn how to remember the next time it happens not to do it again. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Do not keep on adding on to the consequence, once it is established then stick to it, if your child is always in punishment, neither of you will have any sense of balance.&#60;/li&#62;

								Once the consequence is given, its time to show that you care.  Children have a wonderful way of ignoring adult speak so when I say show, that means hugs, kisses and time spent together.  Kids hear you the first time even if they do not act like they do.  If you are unsure if your child is listening, the ask them to repeat back what you said.  Eye contact is always a good indicator if your child is tuning you in or tuning you out.  I will let you come up with your own idea on how to show that you care.

								changed my last name after being married for almost a year.

								Now that I've been married for a while, my single friends have all abandoned me,
								emails from my college friends have become less frequent and I have not had the
								chance to make new married friends. So I started thinking how challenging it is
								to make friends.

								Next surprise, I am almost 7 months pregnant and we are having a little girl. Yes
								very exciting times in my life but that leads to an all important question that
								needs to be answered.&#60;br /&#62;

								I think we first need to define what a friend really is? Is it someone who we talk
								to in cyberspace or meet for lunch now and again? I define a friend as someone who
								you do not need to talk to everyday and still know that they are there for you when
								you need them. That being said, those people do not just grow on trees so where
								do you find them? I have always said there is a difference between being alone and
								being lonely. If you are lonely and looking for a purpose, then this is what you
								need to do in order to make friends.
							&#60;/p&#62;

								&#60;i&#62;What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies.&#60;br /&#62;

								&#60;li&#62;Get off the computer and get out of your house. Yes, you can find friends on the
									computer but if you do, make plans with them and go enjoy yourself. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;If you do not know their real name, can you call them a friend? Online friends are
									okay and serve a purpose, but do not replace true friends. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Do you have hobbies or passions? If so, then try out your hobby and you are bound
									to meet other people with the same interests as you. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Join organizations or volunteer groups that will help you socialize. Meetup.com
									is a great way to meet others with common interests that you can relate to.
								&#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;Do you have an animal? If so, go to the park, eat outside with your animal and let
									your animal help you socialize. &#60;/li&#62;
								&#60;li&#62;How about children? Do you go to the same park each day and never talk to anyone?
									Today is the day to strike up a conversation with just one person. Your kids can
									play nicely so why can't you? &#60;/li&#62;
							&#60;/ul&#62;
							&#60;p style=&#34;text-align: justify&#34;&#62;
								In these tough economic times, it is even more important to socialize and remember
								that we can still laugh, have a good time and no you do not need to spend money
								to make friends. All you need is similar interests and the desire to go out there
								and do it. They will not come through your computer's screen so what are you waiting
								for, go out, make some friends and enjoy your day!!
