Could I Be Obessive-Compulsive (OCD)?

OCD is defined as having either obsessions or complusions. Question 1-4 talks about obsessions, while question 5-8 talks about the complusions. Take this assessment to find out if either of these could be a problem for you.

Yes, I get these things in my head and I cannot get them out of my head by myself
Most of the time, my mind drifts and thinks of horrible things.
I sometimes get something in my head and I cannot get it out without getting help.
I can control what goes in and out of head anytime I want too.

Question 2: The things that you are thinking about have nothing to do with your life , but you cannot stop thinking about them.
Yes, I worry about things that have nothing to do with me.
I am concerned about global issues and I worry about them daily
I hear something that is upseting and it gets me upset.
I have so many problems of my own, I cannot worry about anything else.

Question 3: Do you try to ignore these thoughts and replace them with another thought or action?
Yes, I try to ignore these thoughts, but they just keep on coming back
I can sometimes get these thoughts out of my head by focusing on my own life
I can sometimes get these thoughts out of my head by focusing on something else, e.g a movie or going to dinner, but then they come back afterwards.
I do not suffer from these thoughts at all.

Question 4: Can you recognize that these thoughts are in your own mind and you made them up?
I make up things in my mind all the time and cannot stop thinking about them
I almost always can understand that these thoughts are coming from my own mind.
I sometimes can understand and rationalize these thoughts in my mind.
I do not have thoughts that scare or concern me.

Question 5: Do you have repeated behaviors (e.g.hand washing, ordering, checking)?
Yes, I have to have a routine or else i get very upset
I wash my hands a lot and worry about all the lights being off.
I can only leave the house if I check all the lights and the stove.
I could care less about the lights, I leave them blazing.

Question 6: I have been having the same thoughts everyday (e.g praying, counting, repeating words).
I have to have a mental routine and if i cannot do my routine, I get really upset.
I try to have the same routine everyday and it annoys me when I have to change it.
I sometimes have the same routine everyday, but I can change it around sometimes.
No way, the more I can change things, the better.

Question 7: The acts in question 5-6 help me stay calm throughtout the day.
Yes, I do them because they have a calming affect on me.
