Is it bipolar disorder?

Many people suffer from mood swings that cannot be controlled.  These mood swings either fix themselves or get worse over time.  This assessment will help determine if you suffer from mood swings that you are unable to control.


Question 1: Have you ever been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in the past?
          Yes

          No, but I feel like i still might be bipolar
          Yes, but i feel that I am not bipolar


Question 2: Do you have mood swings?
          Yes, one minute I am up and the next I am down.
          I do sometimes, but not everyday.
          I take medication to control my mood.
          No mood swings for me.


Question 3: Do you get very happy (manic) then really sad (depressed).
          Yes, I cannot control my moods at all, I am all over the place
          I have ups and downs but they are not close to each other.
          I rarely have extreme ups and extreme downs.
          I never have extreme moods.


Question 4: Do you ever get really sad, then really happy.
          Yes, this makes more sense than the last question
          Sometimes, I get sad then it follows with being happy.
          I rarely get extremely down then extremely up.
          I never vary my mood by much.


Question 5: When you are in your manic phase (extreme up) do you do things that you regret?
          Yes, I regret what I do when I am extremely up.
          I sometimes regret what I do when I am in my manic phase.
          I rarely regret what I do in my manic phase.
          I do not have manic phases so I have no regrets.
          I really enjoy my manic phases and do not want them to stop.


Question 6: Have you ever had thoughts of killing yourself when you are in a down mood?
          Yes, and I have tried killing myself in the past.
          Yes, i have had thoughts, but I have them all the time.
          Yes, I have them when I get really depressed.
          No, I do not have thoughts of killing myself


Question 7: Do you push people away because of your behaviors?
          Yes, I always push people away
          I push people away when I am in a mood swing.
          I sometimes push people away when I am in a mood swing
          I never push people away because of my mood


Question 8: How often do you get annoyed?
          Yes, I get annoyed easily.
          I sometimes get annoyed
          I rarely get annoyed
          Nope, never annoyed with people


Question 9: Have you tried taking medication that has changed your mood?
          Yes, I have tried medication that has made me have mood swings
          No, I have never been on medication
          I have been on medication but it did not cause mood swings.
