Aloha! My name is Dr. Lisa Hartwell and I am a Hawaii-licensed clinical psychologist with a focus on clinical and health psychology. I have been a therapist for over 10 years and a registered nurse for over 20 years which allows me to have a tremendous appreciation of mind-body integration also known as the interface between psychology and medicine.
I have extensive specialized training and experience in working with clients who have survived, yet are still feeling the impact of a traumatic event in their lives. This could be something as common as a car accident or more severe such as sexual assault, post-deployment war veterans, or those impacted by crime.
Feeling anxious or feeling your mood is unstable can be difficult to manage when you have a medical condition. I can help you better behaviorally manage and cope with cardiac disease, asthma, cancer, fear of medical procedures (needle phobia!), and insomnia.
My therapy strength provides a balance between a solid clinical sense and an allowance of an open, yet gently-directed, safe and caring process for you to discover holistic healing. It is truly rewarding and an honor to partner with clients as they integrate their mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. I am culturally competent, interject lots of humor and joy during the therapy process and work with clients from ages 3-89+, in the context of individual, couple, and family therapy.
